My Secret Girl Crush
I've never told this to anyone, including the Hubby.
So I guess this makes all of my readers, plus random Internet surfers who stumble upon this blog, privy to some pretty important stuff. Top secret, national security type stuff.
Ok. Here goes. Deep breath...... I have a secret girl crush on Susanna Hoffs.
And just like that, it's no longer a secret.

Hence, my girl crush. I love that she can rock it out and still looks amazing and like she hasn't gained one solitary pound or wrinkle in 30-odd years. I want to hold her hand and smell her hair and then sit front row while she performs. Doesn't she just look like she smells good? And she's so pixie petite you just want to pick her up and carry her around and keep her.
When she does her side of the eyes glancing thing and then looks right into the camera, it's like she's totally looking at me.
My all time favorite Susanna Hoffs/Bangles song? In Your Room.
Second would be Eternal Flame.
Oh the memories.

Hate to ruin your crush, as you have made good points, but living in the age of technology has made me keenly aware of all the tricks of photography. In real life, she has deep gray roots, crows feet like no other, and, even though you can't see it in her picture, an ass as big as Texas. At least that is what I tell myself to make me feel better.

I practiced those look-to-the-left, look-to-the-right-without-moving-your-head eyes all the time when In Your Room came out. She's a cute little piece a pie. Is that a real expression? It is now.
My girl crush is on Summer Glau. She's a geek goddess.
Ooh, I used to have such a secret girl crush on her. And on Stevie Nicks. Love them!
I mean her solo stuff blew, and she acted in a really bad teen movie whose name I forget but for some reason I think was directed by her Mom, but when the Bangles did In My Room and Hazy Shade of Winter, wow, even this gay guy got excited!
Hate to burst your bubble but I live near Milla Jovovich (well, at least we go to the same restaurants and cafes). I pointed her out to some people at Cafe Primo in LA, and they couldn't believe she was *once* a gorgeous model and actress. She looks very haggard and manly (maybe it's the baggy mens style clothes and always disheveled hair). Maybe she's a drinker bc she's too young to look that bad if she's cherishing her health and looks. Sadly, I've never seen Susanna Hoffs in person, but I know she made a video a few years ago with Rosanna Arquette, and she looks nearly the same as in the 80s, not a pound overweight. I fell onto this site bc I was searching her name for other reasons — when I was in high school people would stop and ask me if I was Susanna Hoffs. For my HS graduation dinner I was given the best seat in the restaurant because they thought I was her. That evening with my family, I went with it and said, yes, I'm Susanna. We both grew up in LA and graduated from UC Berkeley (not at the same time - she's 12 yrs older). People guess my age 27-30. I'm 46. I guess we're both aging well. Must be the ethnic genes. Nice post by the way! Funny and well-written!
